The estate Le Muricce is 8 acres in size and is beatutifully situated on top of a hill between the valley of Ruffoli and the valley of Lamole.
The 1,20 acres of vineyards surrounding the estate, consist of 0,7 acres Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita (DOCG), situated in the Chianti Classico area, planted with Sangiovese vines, more particularly the clone from Lamole. The vines are between 10 and 60 years old. There is also a plantation of 0.5 acre of Merlot which today is 8 years old. The soil of Muricce consists of the famous bedrock called Galestro mixed with loam and sand.
The other vineyard of 2,45 acres, La Casina, is situated on the hills of Panzano and also has a surface of Galestro rock, but mixed with clay and is 40 years old.
We grow 2 acres of Chianti Classico, and half an acre of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
We respect the terroir, we work the soil with natural fertilisers and hardly use pesticides, thanks to the altitude and the natural ventilation in the vineyards .
At the same time, the winds coming from the thermal currents originating in the valleys, bring cool air during summer. Also, temperature cools down considerably at night and all this contributes to the acidity of the grapes.
